I am Maria Raidis, the third child of Tatay and Nanay.
I graduated with a BS Commerce degree, major in Banking and Finance from the University of Santo Tomas
in 1969. I also completed Accounting from the Philippine School of Business Administration in 1971.
I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Philippines.
I spent over 25 years in government service, working for the Energy Regulatory Board and its predecessor agencies, the
Oil Industry Commission and the Board of Energy. At the time of my early retirement in 2002, I was head of the
National Power Corporation (NPC) / Power Generation Division of the Energy Pricing Branch of the Board. Tacked in my credits
are various local and foreign trainings I've taken that helped develop my expertise in the field of electric rate regulation.
I am married to Saturnino (Butch) Batara from Quezon City, and our marriage was blessed with two children: Rita Jennifer
and Raymond Jerald. Jen is currently the General Manager of Hokele Suites Waikiki, Castle Resorts & Hotels.
Before joining the Castle Group, she was the Front Office Manager at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa in Maui,
Hawaii.
RJ, graduated with a BS Physical Therapy degree in Manila. He is a licensed PT in the State of Hawaii.
He spent two tour of duties with the US Army; one in Iraq and the other in Schofield Base in
Honolulu. He is married to the former Jennilyn Manahan from Quezon City, who like RJ, is a licensed PT.
They are now residing and practicing their profession in Chicago, Illinois.
Butch and I are now settled in Houston, Texas.
